Imagine all the people of Mobile getting out and walking one mile a day. Imagine them walking one mile each day for 10 weeks. How many miles would we cover? Over one hundred thousand miles? Over 500,000 miles? How about a million (1,000,000) miles?

Recent surveys and studies have indicated that Alabama is one of the least healthy states in the U.S., with 28.4% of adults considered obese.

1 We rate in the top ten for highest incidence of diabetes. Research studies show our school children are not getting the exercise they need.

2 Do you know what helps improve all these health issues? That’s right…your share of the Million Miles!

The goal of Mobile’s Million Miles is to get people active- walking, running, biking and swimming their way to a healthier life and eventually we will have a healthier community.

To help with this process, we have set up this website for you to make a commitment to a more active lifestyle, to track your mileage, and to track the progress our community makes in achieving the goal of increasing our health with a million miles.
